Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia. The Siege at Sarajevo was the longest Siege of a capital city in the history modern warfare. It lasted from April 5, 1992 to February 29, 1996, during this time it is estimated that 15,000 people were killed between civilians and soldiers. During the Siege the Serbs surrounded Sarajevo with artillery, tanks, snipers, bombs, and rocket-launched aircraft bombs. The biggest death total that took place in Sarajevo was the bombing at the Markdale Market. During the bombing 68 civilians were killed and 200 civilians being injured. The Siege at Sarajevo is known to be one of the bloodiest events during the Bosnian War.
MAssacre at Srebrenica
The image to the left is the aftermath of the Massacre of Srebrenica.
The Massacre at Srebrenica was the killing of more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims that took place in 1995. In addition to the killing at Srebrenica, more than 20,000 Bosnian Muslims were expelled from the area in the process of ethnic cleansing. The main target of the Massacre at Srebrenica were men and boys. It was the worst mass killing in Europe since World War II.
Attack at Gorazde
The image to the left is city of Gorazde during the attack.
As the Bosnian Serbians kept on killing, in a week long attack in the Bosnian city of Gorazde, the Bosnian Serbs killed 300 Bosnian Muslims and leaving hundreds injured. Gorazde was claimed to be a safe city for many Muslims.
